Shampoo your weaves at least once a week to keep it fresh. Use lukewarm water and use a sulfate-free shampoo and gently massage the hair. Keeping it clean and fresh prolongs the life of the weaves.
2) Let hair dry
Before you go to sleep or even before you put on your weave, make sure it is completely dry. Going to bed on a wet hair damages hair because it can pull on the hair every time you toss & turn in the bed. Also, it can produce unpleasant smell. Dry hair is less likely to pick up on dirt & safe from damages.
3) Comb hair frequently
Weaves made with natural hair are less likely to get tangled however it is always a good idea to comb the hair carefully to get rid of any small tangles. Remember to use wide tooth comb and start combing from the ends of the hair and slowly work your way up to the roots. If you don't take care of the tangles early on, it can get more tangled until you can't fix them. Always be gentle when you comb the hair and do not try to pull the hair.
4) Avoid using too many products
Avoid using too many hair products in your weaves. Using a lot of oil based products will quickly damage the hair especially when used with heat. Try to avoid using a lot of products and keep it minimal. Most hair products are made of chemicals which can actually make hair drier and tangle more. Find products that are made of natural ingredients and use it only when needed.
